The Mission of Dance Into Space is to share artistic skills and experiences with people from all walks of life and to create quality works for local and cross border audiences.

Mixed Ability Projects

MAP

MAP involves youth artists with and without disability working together in contemporary dance and theatre training, performance creations and community outreaches. It is also a socio-cultural project which aims at inclusiveness of people with disability into society while breaking the taboos and stigma associated with disability. Dance Into Space has trained close to 100 dancers with disability and 7 new groups of mixed ability have been created and trained. For this work and for social inclusion of persons with disability, Dance Into Space received an award given by The National Council for Persons with Disability in the media category in 2011..

Dance into space develops creative works that tour local communities and show in unconventional spaces. This is in a bid to provide performances to populations that might not otherwise have access to quality arts.

Jukumu Letu

Jukumu Letu

Jukumu Letu is the title of an Interactive Media Outreach Project (iMOP) that emphasises the use of new media forms to process and disseminate information that would motivate citizens to participate in the implementation of the constitution. Dance Into Space together with civil society partners implemented the project in Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa and Makueni with local artists and activists.In partership with CRE-CO.


Dance Meets Roots

DMR

DMR is an intercultural contemporary dance decentralization project that has up-to-date brought together a network of 19 active dance groups country-wide. The main objective of DMR is to decentralize contemporary dance by creating new groups, building new audiences and creating performance and training spaces in new areas. The project started with a successful pilot phase between 2007- 2009 in partnership with Arterial Network & Africalia Belgium.
